International Slavery Remembrance Day has now finished

12 Aug 2010

Despite this historic celebration however, we cannot not forget that, slavery unbelievably continues to afflict millions of innocent people worldwide over 200 years on.

In fact, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) estimates that around 12.3 million people, mainly women and children, people live and work in contemporary forms of slavery, as defined in international law, today.

A typical example of this in Niger, where over 43,000 people alone still remain in traditional descent-based slavery. Being born into slavery is not a lifestyle choice, but it lasts a lifetime.

Please consider supporting our cause with a small donation today. For as little as £5, you can support our work and pay tribute to the millions of individuals who suffered as a result of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and who continue to be abused today.
